Vitamin B12 is made by
the microbes in the digestive tract of animals where it is absorbed and deposited into their tissues. When eating meat, fish cheese, milk and eggs we are able to absorb Vitamin B12 through our digestive tract, however this is not always successful due to poor diet, digestion, medical and genetic conditions.

B12 deficiency is also the most common and is not always detectable on blood tests. Even when you have low levels, there is no national agreements of what a normal range is. It is therefore down to the doctors' discretion as to whether or not to prescribe these injections. We therefore look to see if you have any trigger symptoms.

Vitamin D
vit d.jpg
The human body naturally synthesis vitamin D in the skin through exposure to direct sunlight and through the diet from fish liver oils and saltwater fish, however it is rare that enough vitamin D is made for what is required.

Vitamin D is essential to increase calcium and phosphate absorption, making it important in the health of muscles and bones. It also has a vital role in the functioning of the immune system, controls the growth of normal and cancerous cells, stimulates the production of insulin, regulates blood pressure, reduces inflammation in the blood vessel wall, helps skin conditions such as psoriasis, helps the body absorb calcium, good for the teeth and reduces the risk of neurological disorders such as MS, Parkinson's, autism and Alzheimer's.

Due to the lack of sun in the UK, or the increased use of sunscreen to protect against cancer, we unfortunately reduce the amount of Vitamin D our body can produce. Those with darker skin types also absorb less due as the pigment in their skin is designed to block the rays from the sun.

Supplements are often taken, and people assume they are taking their daily allowance. This is not the case- Vitamin D is fat soluble and gets trapped in fat meaning out body is not absorbing enough of what we need
Some Symptoms of Vitamin D Deficiency:
Fatigue or tiredness
Bone pain
Joint pain
Muscle pain
Sour mood
Low energy
More frequent illness
Anxiety
Irritability
Weight gain
Hair Loss

Vitamin C
Vitamin C (also known as ascorbic acid) is an essential dietary nutrient required for biosynthesis of collagen, cholesterol, amino acids and some peptide hormones. It prevents cancer and cardiovascular conditions, counteracts inflammation, and prevents the progression of some chronic and acute diseases. Vitamin C plays a vital role in controlling infections, healing wounds, treating heart disease, cancer, stroke, respiratory infections and pneumonia, meaning some medications may not be needed to treat illnesses.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin meaning in dissolves in water and is therefore not well stored in the body. A daily does is needed through supplements or food such as citrus fruits, berries, green and leafy vegetables, tomatoes, cauliflower potatoes and peppers. Your body will only absorb around 10% of any supplement taken orally and therefore injections are recommended.
